Service Reminders and Recurring Expenses

Reminders can be created by marking an existing service entry as repeating, or they can be created individually without an existing service entry.

To mark an existing service entry as repeating:

Open a service or expense entry and select "More Info -> Repeat". You can repeat the expense by time interval or distance interval, or both.

Select "Automatically Add When Due" if you want the reminder to be automatically converted into an expense when it becomes due. This setting is useful for automatically recurring expenses such as insurance payments.

To create a reminder without an existing service entry:

  • Begin by pressing the "+" button to create a new expense entry, and enter a description.
  • Set the date and odometer values occording to when the reminder is due.
  • Press the "Options..." button and select "Future Expense".
  • Press "Done". The new entry will appear in the "Reminders" section of the Expenses list.

Working with Reminders

Repeating entries will appear in the "Reminders" section at the top of the Expenses list. Past due reminders are indicated with a red dot. Road Trip will also display a warning message when a reminder first become due.

To edit a reminder, select it and choose either "Edit Reminder" or "Show Original" from the menu.

To handle a reminder, select it and choose "Create New Expense" from the menu. This will convert the reminder into an actual service or expense entry, and will set up a new reminder for the next repeat interval.
