Road Trip fully supports the standard backup and restore facilities provided by iTunes, and it's very likely that is all you will need. However, in rare cases iPhone applications can be accidentally deleted, or an iPhone backup can become corrupted.

Road Trip provides additional backup and restore facilities as an extra layer of protection against data loss.

This tutorial describes how to backup your Road Trip data, and how to restore a backup.

  1. Creating a backup.
  2. Restoring a backup from the embedded email link.
  3. Restoring a backup using the CSV Import Tool.
Creating a backup

  3. Archive the email in a folder in your mailbox.

This email contains your Road Trip data in two formats: an embedded link that you can click from your iPhone to restore the data, and raw CSV data that can be imported using the CSV Import Tool.

Restore from the embedded email link

Forward the backup email to your iPhone and click the link.

  1. From your desktop, forward a Road Trip backup email to your iPhone.
  2. From your iPhone, click the link within the email.
Note: Some email clients discard the data contained with the embedded link. In that case, you can use the CSV Import Tool to re-import the CSV data within the email.
